Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV) 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
I learned how special I was when I went to church camp. There I learned that even though I sin all the time it has already been forgiven. So I need to concentrate less on worrying about all the bad things I have done in the past and move on to Love others. I have been trying to do that since and the change in mindset has been amazing for my life.
Also at church camp they tried to explain the verse above by having a lamp in the front of the room with black construction paper on all sides. As they told us how the verse they removed the paper one by one until the bright light shined in the front of the room, just like every person does in the world.
I got to hold a new born this week. What a special experience that each person goes though to get into the world. Yet as we grow older we sometimes forget how perfectly made each one of us is. This starts to dim the light in ourselves and others.
Luke 8:16 (NIV)- A Lamp on a Stand – 16 “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.
Now not only do I get to be a light but I get to see my children be a light to others. Each one of us has this in us but sometimes we can forget, including me. Seeing my daughter love other is amazing and I know I have that too. What an amazing gift we were all given that we need to share with others.
