My husband has a busy two weeks at work so instead of playing games I am going to write about how much I love them. We have played games with so many different friends over the years.
I would call this board game our version of Monopoly. Once you learn to play you can play a game in about a half hour. Many people stop us at the coffee shop and ask us what we are playing. This game does take about a half hour to learn. But after someone teaches you (or you teach yourself) you are hooked! We have played this game so many times. I have played online too. The game always changes because the numbers, tiles, and dice rolling is never the same.
Basic Game: After selecting where you “settle” on the board you take turns rolling the dice and collecting resources. After collecting and trading the resources needed you can keep building until you get to ten points to win.
Personal Strategy: Getting one of every resource at the beginning of the game. Then you do not need to trade but you can if you want.
There are many versions of this game, but after playing many of them we really like Cities and Knights.
This is a card game. There is a learning curve to understand all the cards in play but once you do is so much fun. There are so many different card combinations that you will never get the same game. While this game is has a picture with a toddler, this game becomes increasing more difficult when a toddler is in your lap. (See the dominion games in the background).
Basic Game: You start with one hand of cards and keep adding and trashing cards from your hand to finally buy victory points to win the game.
Personal Strategy: Trash cards from my hand so I have just high value cards to win the game. Also, play online to learn more of the cards and strategies that your friends do not know.
Basic Game: You collect cards of different colors until you can connect the routes that you have been given. You get points for finishing tickets, placing trains, and longest road.
Personal Strategy: Try to finish as many tickets as possible. Hopefully at the end of the game you can pick up more tickets where you trains are already at the destination needed.
What are some of the games that you like to play with your friends?
This is my favorite board games YouTube Video. Too funny!
